Multimedia teams project words and images during worship

A warm welcome to worship

There are a multitude of ways to be involved at First Lutheran Church, but below is a brief list of volunteer opportunities where you can immediately offer your time and talent to the ministry of the congregation. If you are interested in volunteering, call the church office at 832-8321 for further information.

Worship

  • Usher—welcome worshipers, provide bulletins, receive offerings, and ready sanctuary for next service
  • Reader—read Scripture Lessons
  • Communion Assistant—help pastors serve Holy Communion
  • Chancel Choir— sing with the 8:00 a.m. traditional choir
  • First Light— sing with the 10:00 a.m. contemporary music team
  • First Act— act with the drama team
  • Multimedia— help with the projection and recording of worship services: camera and computer operators and director

Education

  • Workshop Leader—5 or 6 week teaching commitment in a Sunday School workshop for grades 1 through 5
  • Shepherd—adult who accompanies class to workshops throughout the year for the sake of a consistent adult presence; does not have teaching responsibilities
  • Library—keep our church library in good working order and acquire new library resources
  • Historical Committee—preserve and display historical documents and artifacts

Social Action

  • The Beacon House (Interfaith Hospitality Network)— help with the homeless shelter ministry
  • Community Table—serve meals on a monthly basis
  • Habitat for Humanity—help build homes
  • Funeral Luncheons— give hospitality to families who experience a loss
  • Email Prayer Chain— share prayer concerns via email
  • Leadership Opportunities— plan and provide oversight for the many specific ministries, activities, and events of the congregation. Committees include: Outreach; Stewardship; Worship, Music, and Arts; Social Action; Education; Property; Business Management; Fellowship; Youth
