The youth ministry of First Lutheran Church provides programs for youth from grades 1-12. Youth have a special, newly renovated area on the lower level of the church. The multiple rooms include a fully equipped game room, lounge, full kitchen, and locker room facilities.
Torchbearers — A senior high group gathers regularly for service projects, Bible study, sports, and social activities which build relationships. A sample of activities include lock-ins, ski trips, dinner theater outings, and service projects.
Each summer a mission trip is taken. Our past summer trips have included the National Youth Gathering in Atlanta, whitewater rafting in Montana, building housing for the poor in Mexico, and mission outreach with social service agencies near Boston.
The Dale Rasmussen Youth Award is given annually to one or more high school seniors in recognition of faithfulness and leadership throughout their years in the ministry of First Lutheran. It is named in honor of former youth pastor, Rev. Dale Rasmussen.
Glory Gang— A youth group for middle school students meets twice each month. Glory Gang might meet at the church for a game night, gym activity, or special project. Or, they might meet somewhere other than the church for bowling, sledding, movie outings, retreats, etc. Service projects which help other people are also part of the Glory Gang experience. Every activity includes time for building faith and strengthening friendships.
Noah's Crew— Children who are in grades 1-5 meet twice each month. Activities are designed so that the young people grow in their faith through activities which are fun and build strong friendships with others. Activities often focus on seasons within the church year, with craft projects and Bible basics geared toward family involvement. Trips to orchards, parks, and zoos are always favorites, too.
