Sunday SchoolSunday School

First Lutheran’s creative educational ministry for children engages little ones in Bible stories and important themes of the Christian faith as they learn that Jesus is Lord.

First CommunionFirst Communion

Receiving Holy Communion for the first time is a milestone in a young person’s life. First Communion instruction prepares students to receive God’s meal of grace.

Bible School and CampBible School and Camp

Summertime holds two wonderful opportunities for children and youth to grow in faith. Vacation Bible School is a week of fun and activities where children learn of God’s love for them in Jesus Christ. Frequently VBS involves the whole family. Outdoor ministry at Luther Park Bible Camp offers an experience where faith is nurtured through “holy play.” From a day-long camp for young children to a week-long camp for senior high youth, outdoor ministry enlivens faith and develops Christian relationships.

ConfirmationConfirmation

Young people of middle school age participate in a three-year program of instruction that grounds them in the basics of the Christian faith. Martin Luther’s Small Catechism is taught in creative ways (small groups, skits, video clips, etc.), and major units on the life of Jesus, the ministry of Paul, the Old Testament, and the life of Martin Luther are taught. This education offering is taught by the pastors to prepare young people to affirm their baptismal covenant on Confirmation Sunday.

Music, Worship, and ArtsMusic, Worship, and Arts

Worship is the heartbeat of First Lutheran Church. The congregation has an array of choral, instrumental, drama, and multimedia groups for persons of all ages. These groups lead the congregation in worship and praise of God.

Youth GroupYouth Group

Through fun, study, service and worship, the youth of First Lutheran are encouraged to be disciples who follow Jesus in every part of their lives. Three youth groups, arranged by age and directed by staff and volunteer adults, steep young people in Jesus Christ.

Parish NurseParish Nurse

First Lutheran is blessed to have a full-time parish nurse as a member of the staff. The parish nurse gives leadership to the healing ministry of the congregation that traces its roots to the healing ministry of Jesus.

Adult Education and LibraryAdult Education and Library

While the Sunday adult education hour is a main setting for Bible study and Christian education that applies faith to life, there are a variety of education opportunities available and aa well as a library of resources.

MultimediaMultimedia

Multimedia capabilities in the sanctuary allow for the projection of words, video and pictures that enhance our worship. Worship is videotaped for television broadcast.

PrayerPrayer

God invites us to place all of our cares and burdens, hopes and joys, before the Lord in prayer. Two prayer groups are actively engaged in conversation with God and numerous devotional resources are available to assist with individual and family meditation.

DeaconsDeacons

Deacons volunteer as lay assistants to bring Holy Communion to those who are unable to come to worship. The Deacon Ministry not only offers the Sacrament to the homebound and infirmed, but also provides a person-to-person contact with those who are often isolated and alone.

FellowshipFellowship

Many ministries of First Lutheran provide occasions for developing relationships as participants study, serve, and pray.
