Communion is received for the first time at a special Seder Ceremony on Wednesday of Holy Week
|
First Communion Instruction is provided to students in second grade.
Parents who desire to have their son or daughter commune earlier than grade two should speak with the pastor.
Instruction helps students understand how God’s grace is given to those who receive Holy Communion. In this Sacrament, Jesus is present in the bread and wine to forgive sins, nourish faith, and give the promise of everlasting life.
Classes are frequently coordinated so that students receive their First Communion at a Seder Ceremony on Wednesday of Holy Week or on Maundy Thursday. Receiving Communion during Holy Week helps students and their families better understand how Jesus took the ancient Passover Meal at the Last Supper and transformed it into a meal of forgiveness and grace.
